Art Education
Always with an interest in art Judy pursued her interest in art on the
side throughout the years. Her formal art education started with Sybil
Rampen in Oakville when her children were very young. Later to the Koffler
Centre for the Arts in Toronto, the Ontario College of Art and the Toronto
School of Art. Judy also studied throughout the years with a variety of
teachers: Renata Realini, Brian Atyeo, Christopher Schenk and Doris
McCarthy, to name a few.
ARTIST'S STATEMENT
Drawing and Painting holds the greatest interest for me and portrait
painting tops the list. When painting a portrait I want to get as close to
the personality of that particular person as I am capable of doing while
still keeping the integrity of an interesting painting. The painting must
be able to stand on it's own for others to also enjoy, who do not know the
person. The background I hope to minimize as not detract from the
character within the face. I use colour in the background to bring out the
features in the face and a feeling for that person.
